Apex
Use the Apex tool to insert a rounded strengthening detail at the joint between two bar elements, typically used at ridge or eaves connections in frames.
When you select Apex, a tool palette opens.
Main tools
- Define - place a new apex at the intersection of two bar elements
- Properties - check or edit the properties of an existing apex. Opens the Default settings dialogue for the selected apex
- Erase apex - remove an existing apex connection from the model
- Default settings - set default parameters for apex radius and edge rounding (read below in more detail)
Settings
Available when the Define tool is selected.
- r - numeric field to define the rounding radius of the apex
- Round outer edge - check this box if you also want to round the outer edge. The inner edge is always rounded
Default settings dialogue
When you press the Default settings button, a dialogue window opens.
This dialogue contains the same settings as the tool palette:
