Excavation


Use the Excavation tool to define pits or trenches by subtracting volumes from the soil model.

When you select Excavation, a tool palette opens.

Main tools
  • Define - create a new excavation by drawing its boundary
  • Properties - check or edit the depth of an existing excavation. Opens the Default settings dialogue for the selected excavations
  • Erase - remove an excavation region from the model
  • Default settings - set the default depth for new excavations (read below in more detail)
Contour definition methods

Available when using the Define tool.

  • Rectangular - draw a rectangle to define the excavation boundary
  • Polygonal - draw a custom polygon to define the shape
  • Pick existing region - reuse an existing region’s contour as the excavation boundary

  • Depth - use the numeric field to define how deep the excavation goes from the ground level

When you press the Default settings button, a dialogue window opens.
