Wall foundation
Use the Wall foundation tool to place continuous strip foundations under structural walls.
When you select Wall foundation, a tool palette opens.
Main tools
- Define - create a new wall foundation element
- Properties - check or edit the parameters of an existing wall foundation. Opens the Default settings dialogue for the selected wall foundations
- Convert - convert existing horizontal beam and some compatible solid shape elements into wall foundations
- Physical alignment - adjust how the foundation is aligned vertically in the model
- Default settings - set default parameters for geometry, material and alignment (read below in more detail)

Line definition methods
Available when the Define tool is selected.
- Straight line - define the foundation with a straight segment between two points
- Arc by center, start point and angle - define an arc using its center point, the start point of the arc, and the angle
- Arc by 3 points - define an arc by selecting three points lying on the arc curve
- Arc by start, end point and tangent - define an arc using its start and end point and the tangent direction at the start
- Line by selection - select an existing line or edge to define the foundation path
Default settings dialogue
When you press the Default settings button, a dialogue window opens.
This dialogue contains five tabs: General, Section, Material, Stiffness, and End conditions. These tabs use the same settings as regular bar elements such as beams or columns.
