Reference plane
Use the Reference plane tool to define custom working planes for modelling, snapping and aligning geometry.
When you select Reference plane, a tool palette opens.
Main tools
- Define – create a new reference plane using one of the available geometry input methods
- Properties – check or edit settings of an existing reference plane. Opens the Default settings dialogue for the selected planes
- Default settings – change default settings used for newly created reference planes (read below in more detail)
Main setting
- Description – optional name or label for the reference plane used for easier identification
Definition methods
Choose one of the following tools when using Define:
- Rectangular – draw a rectangle to define the extent of the reference plane
- Circular – define a circular plane by centre point and radius
- Polygonal – draw a closed polygon to define the shape of the reference plane
- Pick lines – select one or more existing lines to define the plane boundary
- Pick existing region contour – reuse a solid or region boundary as the shape of the reference plane
Default settings dialogue
The Default settings tool opens a new dialogue window.
- Description – optional name or label for the reference plane used for easier identification
