Parameterizable regions and bodies
Previously, only structural elements and loads could be parameterised in the Parametric Model module. FEM-Design 25 extends this capability to non-structural Solid and Region objects, which can also be created using combinations of solid and region modelling operations.
This enables new types of parameterised FEM-Design objects:
- Solids can be used to create custom, parameterised Isolated foundation geometries, which can be stored and reused in 3D Structure projects
- Regions can be used to define custom, parameterised cross-section shapes, which can be stored and applied with variable dimensions

Custom parametric foundations
Parameterised Solid templates become available in 3D Structure projects when defining Isolated foundation geometry using the new Parametric shape option.

After selecting the desired template, the final dimensions can be specified and the foundation can be placed directly into the model.

Custom parametric cross-sections
Parameterised Region templates can be used when creating new bar cross-sections in 3D Structure projects. When defining a new section Size, available parameterised regions can be selected under Parametric shape – Cross-section type.

After selecting a template, the final dimensions can be specified and the cross-section can be stored in the Section library and assigned to bar elements.
When storing the cross-section, FEM-Design may suggest an appropriate built-in section type based on the geometry. Alternatively, the section can be stored as a Generic type. Material compatibility should also be verified.
