Release notes
This page contains list of changes, fixes and new features in FEM-Design 25
Version 25.00.001
Released: 17th of Feb 2026
User Interface
- User profiles: The previous “Full” user profile is now called “Standard”, and a new “Full” user profile was added.
- Filterable list dialogs: Added support for selecting a single result with Enter.
- Grid display settings: Grid display settings could end up in an invalid state.
- Window resizing: When resizing the FEM-Design window, toolbars are rearranged to help prevent them from overflowing the window.
Parametric Model & Input Wizard
- Dialog resizing: The program could freeze when resizing the layer status, colour palette, save view, save display status, or Input Wizard dialogs while renaming an item.
- Input Wizard: Improved Input Wizard image edges to appear less ragged.
Input
- Soil boreholes: Soil boreholes are now displayed at the correct elevations.
- Soil property increment: The soil property increment must be positive only. If solid elements are above the reference level, the parameter should remain unchanged, it cannot be decreased.
- Pick and Copy properties: The Pick and Copy Properties commands previously had no effect on Wall/Default connections.
- Solid to bar conversion: Converting from solid to bar always keeps the solid as the physical model now.
- Panel edge connections: After geometry changes to Profiled and Timber panels, edge connections were not set correctly in some cases.
Tools
- Adjust analytical model: In certain cases, the tool did not work correctly when a shell region contained a circular hole.
Loads
- Export reactions as loads: The export function did not work correctly for circular supports.
- Assigned loads: If a point load cannot be assigned to its support structure, it is now applied directly to a node.
Analysis
- Nonlinear soil calculations: If beams or columns were included in the structural model, the program used dry unit weight instead of saturated unit weight for soil below the adjusted water level.
- Load duplication check: When checking for duplicated loads, the program did not consider load eccentricity.
- Bar elements in 2nd order analysis: In very rare cases involving bar elements in a 2nd order analysis, especially when using a very coarse bar mesh density and with cracked section calculation enabled or disabled, if the end release was modified, the rotational displacements could be calculated slightly incorrectly.
RC Design
- RC Bar Detailed result: The user setting for considering second-order effects was displayed incorrectly.
- Crack width calculation: Crack width calculation is now handled correctly when there is no tensile reinforcement in the Ac,eff zone.
- Reinforcement steel library: In the reinforcement steel library dialog, the limit for the k factor is set to 1.04 to comply with the Norwegian Annex.
Steel Joint Design
- Base plate utilization: In “Base plate normal force - moment resistance” utilization, moment utilization in the z-direction was not included when the base plate was loaded with moment in the y-direction.
- Tensioned bolts: In some cases, the shear resistance of tensioned bolts in steel joints was not calculated correctly.
Timber Design
- Timber bars: Shear and torsion interaction is now checked in a less conservative way for timber bars.
Results
- Bar stress detailed result: Hiding numeric values did not always hide the numbers.
- Result animation scaling: For load combinations, result animation scaling could behave vibrationally instead of linearly.
- Animate result, start values: At the beginning of the animation, the maximum result value could be shown instead of the minimum result value.
Documentation
- Text blocks: The first text block after a single-line chapter title could sometimes disappear on some machines.
IFC
- Timber panel: Timber panels are now exported to IFC at the correct position.
StruXML
- CLT panels: Under certain conditions, saving CLT panels to StruXML could result in an exported layer theta value exceeding the maximum value defined in the schema.
System
- Windows Apps & Features product name: The text “Setup Wizard” was removed from the installed product name shown in the Windows Apps & Features list.
- Crash reporting: The crash report size limit was increased, and a progress bar was added.
- Special characters in names: The characters &, \, and / could cause unexpected behaviour when used in layer status, colour palette, view, display status names, or in parametric template names.
- Recent files list: The Recent Files list could display short paths inconsistently.
- .NET targeting: .NET components were updated to consistently target .NET Framework 4.6.2.
