Checklist
Checklist
When modelling for PREFAB, there are a few things necessary to ensure good results. Use this checklist to run through the essentials, the recommendations and the extra points that apply if you use the New optimized plastic redistribution.
Essential
These are the must-haves for good results:
-
Edge-connections – apply them on all edges interacting with other structural elements (shells & supports)
-
End-point behavior – set to free on all edge-connections with multiple edges meeting in a corner
-
Point-connections – use them everywhere bar elements interact with shell elements
-
Minimum edge-division number – set it to 3
-
Storey – use storeys in the model
-
Axis – use axes in the model
-
Assign to structure – use it for all loads (surface loads on covers don't need to be assigned)
Recommended
These are non-essential but highly recommended points to run through:
-
Supporting structures for covers – set the correct ones
-
Anchorage behavior – ensure it behaves as desired (i.e. only tension)
-
Edge-connections – check that the applied connections represent the desired behavior
-
Special conversion method – check whether it's necessary for your load distribution
Specific for New optimized plastic redistribution
If you intend to use the New optimized plastic redistribution, run through these checks too:
-
Element types – the model contains only shell elements, trusses and covers
-
Analysis results – don't waste time on NLE/PL analysis, PREFAB only needs linear-elastic load combination results
