Reduction zone


Use the Reduction zone tool to define local reduction zones for concrete design checks around supports or peak locations.

When you select Reduction zone, a tool palette opens.

Main tools

  • Define – create a new reduction zone by selecting the relevant bar or support region
  • Properties – inspect and edit the selected reduction zone settings. Opens the Default settings dialogue for selected reduction zone definitions
  • Default settings – open the default settings dialogue for reduction zone parameters

Additional settings

  • t, left – set the reduction zone length on the left side, measured from the peak or support location
  • t, right – set the reduction zone length on the right side, measured from the peak or support location

When you press Default settings, a dialogue window opens.

Extent definition

  • Automatic (based on support size) – checkbox that automatically defines the reduction zone extent from the support dimensions

  • t, left – manually define the left reduction zone length

  • t, right – manually define the right reduction zone length

Moment reduction (EN1992-1-1 5.3.2.2)

  • Active – checkbox to enable or disable moment reduction in the reduction zone
  • Recommended for rigid connection (EN 1992-1-1 5.3.2.2(3)) – apply the recommended reduction approach for rigid support conditions
  • Recommended for hinged connection (EN 1992-1-1 5.3.2.2(4)) – apply the recommended reduction approach for hinged support conditions

Shear reduction (EN1992-1-1 6.2.1(8))

  • Active – checkbox to enable or disable shear reduction in the reduction zone
