Shear control region
Use the Shear control region tool to define regions where shear check settings are controlled for concrete design.
When you select this tool, a tool palette opens.
Main tools
- Define – create a new shear control region in the model view
- Properties – check or edit properties of existing shear control regions. Opens the Default settings dialogue for selected regions
- Reset – reset the selected shear control region to default behaviour
- Default settings – open the dialogue where default shear control settings are defined (read below in more detail)
Defining functions
Available when Define is selected.
- Rectangular – draw a rectangular region by two opposite corners
- Circular – draw a circular region by centre point and radius
- Polygonal – draw a custom polygon by selecting consecutive corner points
- Pick lines – define the region by selecting existing lines or edges
- Pick existing region – reuse the contour of an existing region
Default settings
When you press Default settings, a dialogue window opens.
Shear check mode
- Ignore shear check – disables shear check for the region and enables the x distance setting that affects the region size
- Perform shear calculation – enables shear calculation for the region and activates the settings below
Perform shear calculation settings
- Physical extension – numeric field that defines the physical extension value
- Reduce shear forces – checkbox to reduce shear forces in the shear calculation
