Modal participation factor
The Modal participation factor analysis result shows the contribution of each mode shape to the overall dynamic response of the structure under steady-state harmonic loading. It allows you to evaluate how strongly each mode participates in the response for a given excitation frequency.
Modal participation factor is available only for periodic excitation analysis.

Result selection
To display Modal participation factor, you must select the load combination from the result option list.
Only load combinations included in the periodic excitation analysis are available for selection.
Result display
Modal participation factor uses a specialised result display that is fixed for this result type.
The result is shown graphically on the model as a red symbol. No numeric values or parameters are displayed directly in the model view.
The primary output for this result is the table displayed alongside the result selection options. The table lists the following values for each mode:
- T [s] – period
- f [Hz] – frequency
- phase: cos. [%] – cosine phase component of the modal participation
- phase: sin. [%] – sine phase component of the modal participation
