Response factor

The Response factor analysis result shows a dimensionless value that expresses how much the dynamic vibration response of a structure exceeds a defined base curve representing the threshold of human perception of vibration.

It allows you to evaluate whether vibration levels in floor structures are acceptable for human occupancy under pedestrian-induced dynamic excitation.

Response factor is available for the following analysis context.

  • Footfall calculation

Result selection

To display Response factor, you must select:

  • result type, such as overall maximum, transient response, or steady state maximum
  • self excitation region

Only the selections relevant to this result type are shown.

Result display

Response factor is displayed as a colour palette, where colours represent the calculated response factor values across the structure.
